About Ingolfsskali Viking Restaurant

The dim lighting and wooden interiors of Ingolfsskali Viking Restaurant immerse diners in a distinctly medieval ambiance that complements the culinary journey. Amidst the rustic charm, conversations rise and fall with the clinking of traditional-style mugs, enhancing the authentic feel. Photographs taken at the venue tend to capture not just plated dishes but the interplay of flickering torches and time-honored decor, illustrating why many seek out this destination beyond just its food. Although the atmosphere strongly evokes a Viking hall, it might come across as somewhat theatrical for those looking for a more understated dining environment.

Among the varied offerings inspired by ancient Nordic cuisine, the hearty lamb and seafood stand out, revealing layers of well-seasoned flavors often highlighted in Ingolfsskali Viking Restaurant menus shared online. The pork ribs bear a smoky char, tender enough to fall from the bone yet balanced with a subtle sweetness in the marinade. Service occasionally wavers in flow, particularly during busy evenings, but staff generally display a warm and genuine approach that softens any minor delays. Reviews consistently mention the generous portions, making this a spot where guests typically leave satisfied, though some might find the spices a bit heavy for a refined palate.

Visitors curious about how the kitchen brings Viking legend to the table often consult Ingolfsskali Viking Restaurant reviews to set expectations. When exploring the dining experience without a predetermined agenda, the mix of theatrical presentation and robust flavors weaves a story that appeals to those eager for something more narrative-driven than conventional fare. The pricing aligns reasonably with the effort put into each course, although its rural location in Efstaland can make the journey itself a factor in assessing overall value. Despite this, many regard the restaurant as an intriguing cultural stop, providing a blend of history and hospitality that lingers beyond the last sip of mead.

Cool experience. Service was slow. Food was fine. We all had the lamb and it was tender. Kale needs to be massaged to make it more palatable. It was tough to chew. Dessert was not our favorite. The date cake was strange.

This Viking restaurant was such a cool experience! The place is super well decorated — it really feels like you’re stepping into a different time. The food was great too; we all ordered the lamb and everyone loved it. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but honestly, being in this country, it’s totally worth it. They even have a section where you can dress up like a Viking, which makes it even more fun. Definitely a great spot to visit

We had an unforgettable dinner at Ingólfskáli. The Viking-style decor creates an immersive, authentic atmosphere, and the food was absolutely fantastic. We started with the baked cheese, my husband had the duck, and I had the carrot soup with a few sides — everything was delicious, and the soup presentation was especially memorable. The drinks were also great, including Mead served in a horn! Our server was wonderful, and the whole experience was one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the Selfoss area.

The food was delicious, fresh and unique. The service was exceptional and the staff was wonderful. My advice: make reservations and a week before you go look at the menu and decide what you may want in order to make you dining experience a smoother one. What we eat isn't on the menu anymore as it changes depending on the season and what's fresh. We had horse meat, lamb and fish. All in all an experience you won't get anywhere else.

This restaurant is worth going to. Its an Icelandic long house with unique viking themed interiors. The music is also aligned to the theme and fits in well with the entire experience. We could not do any activities due to the rain. The Icelandic cherry mead served in a horn was very good. The cod fish and lamb shanks were very good. Only the beef cheek was not to our taste and we could not eat it. It went waste. The desserts were very good, not too sweet. Maybe there can be some more choices in the menu. All in all we had a very nice time here. Would recommend. The cost of a meal like this in Iceland is 80 usd a person. Iceland is not a cheap holiday.

Had reservation for a group of 10. We were seated right away. Food didn’t take long and was good. Overall great dining experience and the hall looks great.
